The Times of India (Delhi Edition) this morning carries an Interview with
Atul (Chitnis). Any further comments.... It is true that Linux can and
should be of immense help for propagation of IT in rural India but why are
the policy makers shirking from it? India is known Unix-community and still
the emphasis is not shifting to OPEN solutions. People talk of lack of
committed support that is availble for Linux but to shre with you is our
example at CCS HAU, Hisar..
I am a chemist by profession, no training in computers, still installed and
managing very successfully a Linux server for the 300+ users with proxy,
firewall, mail, web-server and even Office server (File and Print), what
else do we need for atleat Information and communication solutions..
ICAR has been pushing/favouring the usage of Linux since atleat 1997 (as I
know) and has been very popular at several SAUs and ICAR Institutes.
If you use it..... say it .... loudly..
