Is this a laptop? ACPI is competing with XT-PIC and is relevant for IRQ sharing. ACPI
compatible may not be that it uses ACPI. Do a cat/proc/interrupt to find out if ACPI
is used. In any case this does not affect APM. APM shold be enabled in the kernel. Get
a kernel with APM support or compile one for yourself. Be careful what bios and
chipset you are using as you might need to answer special yes/no/module questions if
they are buggy.
