-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Sendmail, Inc., and the Sendmail Consortium announce the second
public beta version of sendmail 8.12.0.
Compared to Beta5 (the first public beta of 8.12.0) a few portability
problems (esp. for MacOS X and NeXTstep) have been fixed. Other
visible changes are:
+ confDELIVERBYMIN and confSHAREDMEMORYKEY have been renamed to
confDELIVER_BY_MIN and confSHARED_MEMORY_KEY, respectively.
+ The macro {sendmailMTACluster} replaces {LDAPCluster}.
+ Added FEATURE(`queuegroup') for selecting a queue group in the access
database.
+ Added OSTYPE(`freebsd4')
+ sendmail/TUNING gives some hints about performance tuning.
+ Any IPv6 addresses used in configuration should be prefixed by the
"IPv6:" tag to identify the address properly. For example, if you want
to add the IPv6 address [2002:c0a8:51d2::23f4] to class {w}, you would
need to add [IPv6:2002:c0a8:51d2::23f4]; if you want to use it in the
access database, you would need to use IPv6:2002:c0a8:51d2::23f4 on the
left hand side.
Beta7 also enhances the selection of the .cf file for MSP/MTA as
explained in sendmail/SECURITY. It is still based on the operation
mode but the new option -A allows the user to select one of
"sendmail.cf" (-Am) and "submit.cf" (-Ac). This allows users to
check (and run) the MSP queue.
Other important changes in sendmail 8.12 can be found in the
announcement of Beta5 at http://www.sendmail.org/8.12.0.Beta5.html
The current release notes can temporarily be found at
http://www.sendmail.org/doc/RELEASE_NOTES.8.12
We are interested in whether shared memory (SM_CONF_SHM) can be
used on OSs for which it has not been activated;
/PATH/TO/sendmail -bv -d0.12 root
can be used to show the compile time switches. Please add
APPENDDEF(`confENVDEF', `-DSM_CONF_SHM')
to your devtools/Site/site.config.m4 file if you want to test this
and tell us about it. A test program is run automatically if
this feature is enabled when libsm is built. Moreover,
/PATH/TO/sendmail -bP
will work if also the option SharedMemoryKey is set.
Please send bug reports to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and general
feedback to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You only need one of the first two files (either the gzip'ed version or the
compressed version). The .sig file contains the PGP signature of the tar
file (after uncompressing it). The PGP signature was created using the
Sendmail Signing Key/2001, available on the web site
(http://www.sendmail.org/) or on the public key servers.
Since sendmail 8.11 and later includes hooks to cryptography, the
following information from OpenSSL applies to sendmail as well.
