Though I have got onboard sound I still use my old es1371 PCI sound card
with which I have quite happy as it gives me excellent sound and it also
has got support in the kernel. I use kernel module for this card. No alsa
etc. needed.

I have got Zenith Speakers which Zenith gives with their PC's and am very
happy with its output.

If you are going for a 17" monitor than go for APC 500VA ups with AVR. No
problems for me from that UPS.
