These are not exactly errors per se. It's a known problem with dlink (and some
cheaper varieties of eepro100) cards that any ping time of > 1000 ms will
produce this kind of error.
Does IITK have any internal DNS set up for its lan? These ping times are
atrocious if this box is hosted on your campus and you are pinging it from your
campus.
