Hmmm, which ftp server? I can think of Proftpd at proftpd.net, wu-ftpd
(any redhat install), the openBSD port to Linux (Don't remember the URL)
FTP clients-->www.gnu.org (or go to a BSD site)
or search for lftp (This is in C++, and a fantastic client)
