i think u r saying same what we have in our file 
its correct or not  ?

i got it

and changed some entries on an expermental DNS  

svrec.ernet.in. CNAME vikram.svrec.ernet.in.

line is there now 

and 

 ;    svrec.ernet.in  IN   MX   10 vikram.svrec.ernet.in
^^^ 
is commented
 
now the output to the dig is as following


[root@saraswati] ~# dig @localhost svrec.ernet.in 

;; ANSWER SECTION:
svrec.ernet.in.         23h45m43s IN CNAME  vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
vikram.svrec.ernet.in.  23h45m8s IN A   202.141.85.15

and
