Friends,

I am trying to connect my linux box on a motorola sm56 to the internet. As
advised by you guys i upgraded to kernel 2.4.4. and pppd 2.4.1-1, bu t still
it refuses to log on. This time i can see the logging on to network message
in kppp but no further. The xterm in which i ran kppp shows the folowing :-

-------------------------------------------------------------------
kernel supports ppp alright.
pppd: The remote system is required to authenticate itself
pppd: but I couldn't find any suitable secret (password) for it to do so.
pppd: (None of the available passwords would let it use an IP address.)
received unespected SIGCHLD.
Couldn't find interface ppp0:(null)
Couldn't find interface ppp0:(null)
This line then keeps on repeating.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The kppp gives the following :-

--------------------------------------------------------------------
May 10 17:57:18 agga pppd[2030]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
May 10 18:01:52 agga pppd[2030]: Terminating on signal 15.
May 10 18:01:52 agga pppd[2030]: Exit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

My /var/log/daemons has these strange looking lines :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
May 10 17:57:45 agga modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ppp0
May 10 17:57:51 agga last message repeated 7 times
May 10 18:06:30 agga modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ppp0
May 10 18:07:30 agga last message repeated 536 times
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any idea whats wrong.

-Amit
