Well, console/text solutions are already floating around. I counted 3 of them,
after your post. But I would still recommend you Ted. Convert the doc to rtf and
open it in Ted. It's a very simple and useful RTF editor.

Just make sure that there are no headers/footers in that. Ted doesn't do that. I
guess RTF's doesn't do that at all excpept MS-RTFs. Rest works. I have read huge
documents with that. Graphics is no problem...
