What's the kernel version? Guess it's less than 2.2.14 or something?
Then, try downloadng 2.2.16.rpm or above, just 5 mb something.
rpm -ivh <downloaded kernel>.
Then try alsa.
Else, just get a RH 7.x CD. :-)
