Hi,

If u want 2 make lilo secure, do the following as root. Plz do with care
'cause any mistake may render linux inaccessible.

Edit /etc/lilo.conf and add the following line after install=/boot/boot.b

password=<password>     [password without angle brackets]

Add as last line of lilo.conf

restricted

Before compiling test your LILO by

#lilo -v -t

If it's OK, recompile lilo.conf by

#lilo

reboot

Password would not be required normally but if a parameter is passed (such
as single) then you'll be prompted for password.

Please note, the /etc/lilo.conf will have the password in plain text. You
can remove password line from lilo.conf, but if you do so, any recompilation
of lilo without the password clause will make the system inaccessible. So
NEVER recompile lilo if you remove password clause from lilo.conf.

Regards,

Vinu
