hi Ratnakar ,
network browsing is not native to linux and is a windows explorer feature.
But there are ways to use windows network shares in linux.for this you will
need a windows network client like smbclient or smbmount or a gui frontend
for this command like gnomba, linneighbourhood or komba2.I would suggest you
use knmba2 as a network browser as it is the best.konqueror has limited
readonly io-slave(plugin) for smb networks.for this to work type
smb://<machinename>/<sharename> in the address box of konqueror.if the share
has a password it will prompt you.tou can also make settings permanent by
configuring the windows shares section in kde control centre.
remember enabling smb has notthing to do with network browsing.smb is a file
server for linux and not a client.for command line access use the command
smbclient ot smbmount to mount the windows share like a local filesystem.

I have a Mandrake 8.0 installed as a client, with a win98se acting as a net
sharing server.

I wish to browse my network neighborhood from my Mandrake, as if i m browsing
on any windows cleint. I checked the new Konqurer, it as an item named local
network, but doesnt show anything.

I have even enabled smb, but thre is now change. Pls suggest me what do i do?

Ratnakar
