Kingsly John saw fit to inform LI that: > >pressing g while mplayer is playing causes a file grab.mpg to be created >in the current directory... > >how do I stop the grabbing ? > >how do I enable sound recording too ? > >the docs don't seem to cover this. This is the reply I got from mplayer-user list from Arpi, the lead developer of mplayer. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, > There seems to be a option in mplayer while playing the video, pressing 'g' > grabs the video isn't it ? No. It's only saving demultiplexed mpeg-ES video packets. It was an development option used for debugging teh VCD stuffing bits problem of libmpeg2. > How can i stop the grabbing. Not found any info on this in the docs. press 'g' again. > One more thing. The video which is grabbed is without sound :-) Why ? Any because it's raw ES video stream. it was created to cut out buggy part of a VCD disk, to futher analyzing by libmpeg2 developers. so, again: it isn't an end-user option, this is why it's undocumented. it was added only to help debug a specific bug of libmpeg2, and not used any more and has no any sense to using it. i'll remove.
