masqerading or NAT is always slower that a caching proxy like squid as masq
is affected my a numberof factors on the gateway machine, like the network
traffic, the queue length etc.....,where as proxy caches webrequests and so it
can deliver faster for repeated requests, thus saving bandwidth. In my masq
gaetway I have noticed very long waittime in queues for web requests
etc.moreover doing NAT on an general purpose OS like linux/bsd is not as
efficient as doing it on a router.but masq does have a lot of advantages
too, like provide access to non webbased services.webproxies cannot provide
access to other services, unless the client supports web proxies.the best
option would be to use masq and do transparent proxying using squid.

Binanand, the question is will
there be any difference in browsing speed on
the client machines when we use IP MASQ or PROXY?

Thanks
