The kernel will let you enable both.. but when you look in /proc .. only
one of them will be enabled!

|Sorry, I tried it out, but it worked the other way round, i.e., by enabling
|ACPI!
What kernel and mobo are you using ?? Until 2.4.3 ACPI wouldn't shut my
machine down :( when I moved to 2.4.5 I decided to go back to APM!
