Yes, my mistake .. there are, as u have stated below, two
Primary and two Secondary partitions ..

Here it is ..

I used -l switch to get the above mentioned output .. is it okay
? or something is still missing ? I had recently created this
file
as I expected this request :-)
I hope this will do ..
Actually, I forgot to mention in my previous mail that the
current setup was going quite OK, i.e. , Win98 was showing me
only 2 partitons that it actually occupies and in proper sequence
(C & D drives) .. And then one day, out of blue , Norton
AntiVirus complained me that your MBR has changed while i was
surfing the net .. So, fearing that some virus might have done
some malicious work in the MBR, I asked Norton AV to restore
original MBR after backing up the current one .. However to my
surprize I landed up in the current situation .. And even the
backed up MBR is also not restorable as Norton AV oblidges me to
say that the file is corrupted ..

I thought this requirement is no longer needed to be fulfilled
for newer BIOSes ..
I am not fully aware of it .. Please correct me if i'm wrong
somewhere (My linux knowledge is still in it's chiledhood :-) )
JFYI, I'm using Via MVP3 m/b with an AMDK6-2 CPU ..

Do u mean to reinstall win98 or install Win98 after formatting
entire HDD ?
I can afford to reinstall but, I am afraid, I can't afford to
reformat and repartition the 6gb partition(C drive) ..
However I can manage to fiddle around with the last 2 partitions
..
