You *cannot* have http like name based hosts.
This means that you need a separate IP+port pair per host (since 
otherwise the ftp server will not know which host to send the info to.

To run multiple IP based/ Port based hosts, you can use the virtualhost 
directive. 

Please see the proftpd FAQ for further info. Then search the proftpd 
archives, and finally ask the questions (name based  hosting is an old 
FAQ, as is not being able to follow symlinks out of a chroot.
