I have a card with the same chipset.... works fine for me.
See if you have /dev/agpgart support compiled into your kernel, and also agp
support for your motherboard's chipset. Also enable DRI (Direct Rendering
Manager) support in the kernel. (I'm assuming that you compiled the nvidia
driver for the kernel that you're using).
