If you set localhost / 127.0.0.1 as your smtp server, your local sendmail
would be used.  If you use mail.vsnl.com / bom3.vsnl.net.in etc, then vsnl's
smtp servers (iPlanet, Postfix respectively) would be used.

To know the contents of a .deb file, in systems without dpkg
$ar -x foo.deb
This should give you a file called data.tar.gz which contains 
the binary files. 
$tar -tvz < data.tar.gz | less          
####<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>####################################
