Procmail is the local delivery agent by default in sendmail on most linux
distros (including deadrat) ... and it does quite good filtering.

in sendmail.mc ... which sets the value

God knows who suggested maildrop to you (perhaps some qmail + courier user
who is firmly of the opinion that procmail sucks?)
