I have installed mdk 7.2 in a machine with local printers Epson 105+ and also
a printer which emulates Epson LQ1170/IBM Proprinter XL24E. I have installed
with cups instead of lpr while prompting. Some time back with RH 6.2, epson
105+ was working with 9 pin dmtprinter with printtool/lpr. With rh6.2 both
the printers are printing test pages properly.
I reinstalled MDK 7.2 with lpr option instead of cups. Then also problem
remains.
However I got error msg while test printing using printtool as follows:
$:printtool
everything already installed.
Starting CUPS printing system [PASSED]
packdrake: cannot open archive file /lib/modules.cz2
rmmod:module parport_probe is not loaded
no dbentry at /usr/lib/libDrax/printer.pm line 480
in /etc/modules.conf parport lines are
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
pre-install plip modprobe parport_pc; echo 7>/proc/parport/0/irq
what to correct so that printing takes place normally?
I can directly print using cat file >/dev/lp0
