Problems may be one of the following :
1) If you have internal modem, check if the card
is loose fittedor else.
2) If Ext. Modem check cable for any llose
conncetions
3) Check modem cable to Telephone jack joint.
4) If you have Winxx loaded, check Start ->
Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems -> Modem
Properties -> Diagnostics -> More Info
See if your modem get recognised with lot of Modem
setup strings.
If not, try to change your modem driver thru
Device Manager Properties.
Do step no. 4 , only if you are frustated to
sewtup modem thru Linux.
Now-a-days I do'nt require any Winxx support to
set-up my Internal Modem. Just a little tinkering
with port settings is suffice.
5) Or tyr kudzu thru interactive setup.
