Not necessarily here is what I did to get rid of this problem I had a 20 GB
HDD, with 1 partition of 17 GB of type fat32. I created a swap partition of
256 MB and the remaining unallocated space was allocated to ext2 using
pqmagic.

Here is how I did it.

1. Created a swap and ext2 partition, using the pqmagic where you have an
option of creating a linux partitions along with fat,fat32,HPFS,NTFS etc.
(note: do not forget to skip the bad sector test option in the first
menu --> settings)

2. Booted through the RH7.1 CD.

3. When asked to select between DiskDruid and fdisk. selected fdisk.

4. selected the hda

5. quited fdisk without doing anything.

6. Next step entered the post fdisk diskdruid.

7. Set the mount poing of the ext2 partition to /.

8. continued to install.

the installation was successful.

Note I used the xosl to boot linux. and my lilo is on the first sector of
the / partition.
