I'd like to discuss some of my linux problems with U.
I've installed PCQ Linux 7.1 (Based on RedHat Linux 7.1 ) on 3 GB space of my
10.2 GB HDD.
Current running Kernel is 2.4.3-12 (on i686 ).
My problems while running linux are..
1. My printer (Canon BJC 1000 SP Bubblejet printer) doesn't communicating with
Linux.
It doesn't identified while configuring.
I've downloaded the CUPS (Common Unix Printing System -
cups-1.1.9-linux-2.4-intel.tar.gz).
Will it resolve the problem? But I dont know, how to treat it in the
terminal window
to configure and use it. Could U please tell me how?, or any other
solution?
2. Graphics is Excellent, But when running Konqueror web browser, or something
like that,
some colour patches and shades are appearing on menubars, toolbars and
buttons.
This makes them unfair and un-identifiable.
As a test, I started them from terminal window, then a message appeared
in terminal window:-
Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":0.0".
What does it mean? How to resolve it?
3. I've downloaded the rpm packages for xine from freshrpms.net and installed.
files:-
xine-0.5.2-fr1_decss.i686.rpm..rpm
xine-devel-0.5.2-fr1_decss.i686.rpm..rpm
But when I exexuted them xine appeared and stuck. no any other responce,
and couldn't be even closed. What is the problem?
3. Is there any Indian script managers for Linux (for Malayalam ) ? If yes,
from where can I get it?
Required details of my system:
Pentium III 550 MHz 150 MB SD RAM (32 MB and 128 MB chips)
Intel 810 chipset motherboard (Priya M6TWG System board )
Could any one of U please help me to solve these problems and to get
correct infn.?
