hello list,
My problem continues.. I tried the following to repair my fs

1. e2fsck -c -p -v /dev/hdax
This showed that I had 7 inodes containing duplicate/bad blocks, and
instructed me to do the check manually.

2.e2fsck -v /dev/hdax
this gave me an option of cloning the file with dup/bad blks.on 'n',
gives an option of deleting the offending file.As I dont know what
'cloning' the file meant, I gave a default yes to all files. (can some one
explain what this means?)Also, in cloning one of the files, it gave an error
that 'attempt to read blk frm fs resulted in a short read', pls elaborate?

3.e2fsck -b 32768 /dev/hdax (as suggested by Mr.Vijay)
this, in spite of not knowing my inode density( how does one find this?)
This also resulted in manual type e2fsck options, to which I again gave a
default yes. After the process was over, I tried to login frm the shell,
got the same error.

All this was being done after booting in lin from PCQ CD1 in linux rescue
mode.

Also, fdisk does not show my /boot partition at all. Is this linked?

can anyone suggest something?
    TIA
 Peeyush
