Try using webmin instead. It does most things correctly, and clonging quotas 
is easy.

What do the man pages say about this error? Doesn't sound like quotas, but 
something else that linuxconf did.

Why do you need X on the servers? Do a minimalistic custom install, and then 
add components as necessary. Try turning DMA on on the machines.

You need squid. See the squid.conf file for examples of how to configure the 
ACLs. Again, I have had bad experiences with CPU load going over 4 with squid 
on 2.4.x, so you will probably need kernel 2.2.x.
