Thanx Shridhar, Suresh! No, this is not a remote machine I am talking about and I can work on X while logged on root [though not advisable]. I encounter problems only when I try X as a normal user! And it happened all of a sudden today morning! I even tried xhost +localhost checked /etc/pam.d/xserver /etc/security/ nothing works and i don't see anything peculiar. And removing .Xauthority does n't work at all. What could be wrong...?? Selvi Jaysree __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Listen to your Yahoo!
