Kunal,
I did not follow your thread so far, because there
were quite a few posts on your thread. From your file
/etc/resolv.conf, it seems it is incomplete ... Though
I do not recollect what the problem was.
I am posting a sample /etc/resolv.conf which will
work for a single user box with ppp link to an ISP. For
networked systems, I need more details of your setup.
This will enable your local box to be referenced
as server91 or localhost. For ISP, put in the full ISP
name (like I put nde.vsnl.net.in). Replace the "nnn" at
the bottom with the primary and secondary DNS numbers
(IP nos) of your ISP (something like 202.54.15.96) ...
Bish
--------<snip>--------
search server91
domain server91
nameserver 127.0.0.1
search localhost
domain localhost
nameserver 127.0.0.1
search your.isp.name
domain your.isp.name
nameserver nnn.nn.nn.nn
nameserver nnn.nn.n.nn
