Hi,

I also faced the same problem in my pc with two modems. One GVC external and
my presen DAX Internal modem.

If you are using Windows, do following steps.

Go to control pannel
double click on modem icon.
Select the modem and click on "properties" button
Click on the connection tab
Click on "Advanced" button
Add "x1" in the Extra Settings

It solved the problem with both the modems. I can't say how to do it on
Linux, still i can't connect to net from Red Hat using my winmodem ( PC-Tel
Internal 56KB). Hope other experianced linux users can tell you more about
configuring it on Linux.
