If you are thinking about running VCD's in full screen use plaympeg which comes in the same package as gtv. As for copying VCD's on Linux you have to raw read the VCD instead of trying to mount it - you can only mount a 640MB CD unfortunately most VCD's are more than that. I use readvcd and it works great for me - believe there are more such software.
