This is what I got from a putty session on HP-UX. And everything works with
putty. So I am little puzzled as what entry should I make in /etc/termcap on HP
machine. I am sorry if this is getting bit annoying but can't help it..

$ echo $TERM
xterm
$ grep /etc/xet^?^?
$ stty erase ^?
$ grep xterm /etc/termcap
$ uname -a
HP-UX congo B.11.00 A 9000/785 2009251511 two-user license

Same exercise on linux machine.
[shridhar@perth shridhar]$ echo $TERM
xterm
[shridhar@perth shridhar]$ grep ^xterm /etc/termcap
