Hi
    I have(or rather, had) a PCQ RH-6.2 installation on my
PIII-866/20gb/810e system.
Recently I got hold of a PCQ RH-7.1 CD from my friend and while trying
to
install 7.1 the following things are happening. (Of course I could not
install/upgrade )
1. While trying to install in any mode other than 'expert' or 'expert
nofb', the system hangs with several error messages while running
'anaconda'.
<Quote>
    cpu: 0
    EIP: 0010 : [<c0110ada>]
    eax : ebx: ...... etc.
    Process Swapper : (pid : 0, stackpage = c0241000)
    Stack : <stack values>
    Call Trace : <values>
    Code : 8b 01 85 .........
    kernel panic : Aiee, killing Interrupt-handler
    In interrupt handler - not syncing
<Unquote>
2. In the 'expert ' mode the x server starts successfully and then exits

on <GDK error>
3. In the 'expert nofb' mode I can go upto the 'Partitioning /dev/hda3'
stage. Then the program exits with the error message that " A serious
error has occured while formatting /dev/hda3. The installation cannot
continue. Press OK for rebooting".
    I went upto the partition stage as in step 3 and after that when I
rebooted, I had lost my original PCQ 6.2. I cannot boot off the rescue
disk also.
    I have a 3GB partition for / and a 256 MB swap partition. The /
partition is within the voodoo figure of 1024 cylinders. The CD is not
corrupted because my friend had installed off it and I could install off
it on my office computer after the failure on mine.
    Can anybody please give me a ray of hope either to get back my 6.2
or to install 7.1. Else I think I will re-install my 6.2.
Regards and Thanks in advance
simon
