Don't know much of RH ... the error pattern seems like
the kind of thing thrown by python ...

Seems like a write error during load up. Should not fail
otherwise.

This seems to be a real h/w problem. There may be corr-
uption of boot record of /dev/hda3, or errors in the
partition/ media itself.

You have no go except to re-install RH 7.1. However, it
is important that you check out your /dev/hda3 first.
o Boot from a rescue disk or a stand-alone single disk
distro like tomsrtbt or alfalinux (both are linked on
freshmeat)
o Do a fdisk /dev/hda. Delete the partition and re-make
the partition. If it is a primary, then no probs. If
it is extended, then you are likely to lose all the
logical partitions under it ... do NOT re-create the
partition if you have logical partitions under it.
o Clearly mark the partition type as Type 83.
o mke2fs /dev/hda3 ... if there are physical errors on
the disk, it will show. Can run a e2fsck on /dev/hda3
for confirmation after that.
o If this goes okay, you should have no probs with the
installation of RH-7.1 or any other Linux distro. If
there are physical disk errors, you would have to use
another partition ... and try and replace the disk as
soon as it is convenient !
