Hold your power down button at least for 4 sec.

OK, Whatever try to recompile your kernel with APM or ACPI.

Subject: [LIH] Problem with Kernel Recompile

Hi all,
I am pretty new to advance Linux topics, but yesterday I took some
guts & tried to recompiled My Redhat 7.2 kernel to upgrade to 2.4.15-pre5.
After spending the whole day iterating thru various ways to recompile it,
atlast I was able to do so. Now I have my 7.2with 2.4.15-pre5 running. But
one problem.
My new system refuses to shutdown the machine. I have ZXATX based machine
& so it must automatically poweroff right, but the new kernel just says

....
Power Down.

And just halts. It does not seem to shutdown the services also. Does not
switch off the mach. Infact even the powerdown button on the box does not
work & the restart button is used to first restart it & then shutdown
probably going thru windows 98( iam dual booting).

Now can any Guru tell me what am I missing. I have recompiled the Kernel to
use APM & APMI but then what is wrong.
I use halt -p to shutdown.

Any idea.

Thanks & Awaiting ur replies,
Jiger
