SB Live is probably one of the best sound cards in the market.. I bought
mine for nearly 5000 rupees last year ... it's an awesome card.. does a
lot of cool stuff in windows... and sound effects in games is awesome...
but under linux it doesn't come anywhere close to the windows performance
(in terms of features)

Alsa gives over 130 controls for the SB Live! card... and I haven't really
figured out what they all do!(but inspite of that it doesn't compare to
the windows drivers!)

If you use the alsa drivers www.alsa-project.org you will get full duplex
sound with any of the supported cards.(unless there's some bugs that need
to be fixed)
