Sigh... Try reading 

[1] The redhat 7.2 release notes (at least the section on sendmail)

[2] The sendmail FAQ (particularly
http://www.sendmail.org/faq/section5.html#5.3.3 ... though you could do with
a read of the rest of the faq as well)

[3] The sendmail.mc file used to generate your cf file (in
/etc/mail/sendmail.mc)

In short, it is basically a security measure implemented by redhat to prevent
people from causing harm to themselves by misconfiguring sendmail into an
open relay.  Sort of like leaving a gun with the safety catch set.

You can use aliases to  decrease the amount of typing you need 
to do to get commands you commonly use. You can  place them in 
your startup file (.login) as well. Under csh and tcsh: 
alias lf ls -FA
alias ll ls -lA
