The main function of the "supercomputer" would be to index data, serve records/data and lil computing. The operations would mostly be of the "search and retrieve" kind hence a dedicated storage device with fast disk reads would be a integral part of it. Considering the volume of data, it would be best to index the data and split it over the cluster machines which "guarantees" redundancy and store the actual data in some kind of dedicated highly available storage. I am not sure about the volume of the data involved but it might be possible to split the index and the data over the cluster machines which will reduce the cost involved. mary __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
