Your HELO / EHLO is not the problem.  Configure your mail client to set the
envelope sender properly.  Simplest way in kmail is to set the smtp server as
rh72 and port as 25 instead of having it call sendmail directly.

If you want it to call sendmail, configure masquerading ... for a howto on

The file /etc/motd displays a message at every login. To have
it change point MOTD_FILE in /etc/login.defs to another file.
