There won't be a significant change from 2.2.12 to 2.2.14 Keep to the pld one, unledd you want to jump to 2.4.x ... Which is the distro you are using. Most have their own re- commended method of doing things ... ofcourse you can do from a tarball, but you must backup your existing .o files before taking the plunge. The kernel-HOWTO is quite exhau- stive and is quite okay for generic updates ... Unless you are dead sure, it is better to go by the recommendations of your distro. Note, the copying bit is only after compilation. Nothing needs moving except for the new kernel and the .o files to respective /boot and /lib/modules/kernel-version/ HTH Bish -- : ####[ Linux One Stanza Tip (LOST) ]########################### Sub : Hackers Jargon (#2) LOST #041 Commonly used abbreviations on Mailing Lists [#2]: YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary IOW = In Other Words FYI = For Your Information HTH = Hope This Helps My Bad = My mistake, sorry HAND = Have A Nice Day ####<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>#################################### : _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
