Pine 4.x can speak directly to an smtp server - and it can postpone messages
(but won't queue them in an outbox)

That, plus most people block mail directly from dialup IPs.  If you install
sendmail (or whatever) configure it as per http://www.hserus.net/dlhowto.html
to pass mail to your ISP (or even to smtp.mail.yahoo.com) without doing local
dns lookups.
