Please note, when you "upgrade" your kernels, your modules must change too. It appears, your kernel is picking up the cdrom driver as a module. The specific file is: /lib/modules/2.4.12/cdrom.o It is likely that your modules are still of 2.4.8. Do you have the above on your system ?
