Hi all

we have a problem with squid(based on RedHat 7.1)
runnnig on IBM netfinity 1000.THE SERVER has got 2
network cards(ee100 and dlink).

we assigned a class c address to eth0 and a class B to
eth1.eth1 is connected to LAN and eth0 to
router..which inturn is connected to VSNL(ISP).

We are able to access internet from the above server
by using lynx www.yahoo.com command , but when we
specify the class B address in the client PC browser
and try to browse net it displays an error saying DNS
server has refused to perform the operation.

I think is not mandatory to configure DNS server in
order to make squid work, all you require is to specify
ISP's VSNL DNS addresses using linuxconf.

Earlier i had implemented squid on a Compaq PC with a
single network card having the above two addresses..

203.X.Y.Z was the original address and assigned 172..
Using
   ifconfig eth0:1 172.16.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0.

What I suspect is that the server is able to receive
the requests from clients (by looking at the squid
logs) , but we are unsure whether it is able to
forward the request to the VSNL servers

Something to do with Communication between two
cardsthis is not the case when you are browsing
internet from the server itself.it is using eth0 to
browse the net.

Squid configuration is fine.problem appears to be with
routing.

Enabled IP forwarding on the server.

can some one help me in solving the problem.correct me
if my workflow is wrong.

Thanks and regards,

Bhaskar
