Hi

I have a problem in using squid on a server having two
network cards(intel and dlink). The server is IBM
netfinity 1000 running on RedHat linux 7.1. Configured
two NIC's in the following manner.

eth0: 203.x.y.z nm 255.255.255.240
eth1: 172.16.1.1 nm 255.255.0.0

DNS server addresses are mentioned using linuxconf.

Now eth0 is connected to the router and eth1 to the
LAN.Clents are configured with eth1(proxy) address and
port number 3128 in their browser(IE).when we try to
access net from the client it displays an error "name
server has refused to perform the operation".the
entries in squid.conf are fine..We are able to access
net from the server(because of public IP's) but not
from clients.

Ip forwarding is enabled on the server.i suspect some
sommunication problem between two cards...

Solution tried:

I have disabled eth1 and assigned class b address to
eth0.the address is 172.16.1.1.the only change is that
i have connected eth0 to the HUB which is connected to
router.when i did this i have observed that clents are
able to access internet, but this is not permanant
solution.I would like to assign two IP's(Class C and
B)to two cards.

can anyone provide a solution to this problem.

regards,

Bhaskar
Hyd.
