umm I dont really trust the docs too much - I usually try to see what 
the help command or --help throws up. If you remember I was pointed out 
my mistake for looking at the docs even in a popular software like wget. 
The docs doesnt tell you about the batch mode even though it is there in 
wget --help. As for how I found it - my room mate did that actually I 
just picked his brains ;). He found out another usefull command in CPAN 
  "r" try giving that on the cpan prompt and it will tell you about all 
the packages which have an update and what the latest version number is.
