I am running debian. So, I cannot use your suggestion :-(

It has been mentioned that fai is supposed to be the debian's kickstart
equivalent. But, my problem is I want copy an installed system on to a
different hard disk. Either fai or kickstart would expect rpm/deb files
of the packages to be accessible. I _might_ have deleted some of them.
So, is there a way to copy th installed system on to a different disk
and use it?

The temperature of the aqueous content of an unremittingly ogled
culinary vessel will not achieve 100 degrees on the Celsius scale.
