Hi,

Here is a peculier problem. I have a US Robotics 33.6 modem using which I
had configured the email server with Red Hat Linux 6.2. Now I have
installed PCQLinux 7.1 on the same machine and wvdial, minicom all give me
the same problem. The modem is not initialising. However the same modem is
working at present on the NT Server.

Here is what I get :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[root@ho /root]# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?
Did you configure it properly with setserial?

/var/log/messages gives the following :

I had done the custom installation of PCQLinux 7.1. What the above error
message indicate ? What could have gone wrong.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[root@ho /root]# dmesg |grep tty
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anybody faced this problem with PCQLinux 7.1 and wvdial ?

Thanks in advance.

Peace

To know the IDE hard disk identification info which was found
by the kernel at boot time, inclusive of things like the model
serial number, as root try: #hdparm -i /dev/hdx (where x is a,
b, c etc).
