But In my case I don't have any file /boot/boot.b. a)Without this /boot/boot.b file I am not able to install lilo as it had the directive saying "install="/boot/boot.b" and lilo gave the error message saying that "Fatal: open /boot/boot.b : No Such File Or Directory". b)Touching the file "/boot/boot.b" also did not help. c)I copied the /boot/boot.b from the neighbouring machine and ran `lilo -v' It went well.But I don't know how successful it may be unless otherwise I reboot my machine. d)If I don't have access to the neighbour's machine how else I can regain my /boot/boot.b file with regards kamesh jayachandran
