If it was misconfigured, it would not function correctly on the RHL 6.2 and
RHL 7.1

Thats what I had noticed and asked why was it not accessing the ttyXX    ;-)

S10:345:respawn/sbin/mgetty -s 38400 -D ttyS0
The catch is why should it access the pts only on RHL 7.2 ??
