Even windows cannot do this. It detects all new H/w
and we need to configure it.

That is not the point. Why should Linux look at any
other OSes as benchmarks.

Nothing is impossible in s/w. What we just need is
that every category of h/w must have 2 levels of
properties.
One standard - Globally uniform like protocols (SMTP)

& one individual for special features by a vendor.

Do u get it.
