Yes. sure. If it's not benchmark call it reference. Good or bad, you need to 
things to measure. A scale and  an object.

Perfectly. Tell that to every hardware manufacturer who produces winmodem and 
refuse to open hardware specs.

What you say is too ideal and doesn't happen. At least I haven't seen it 
happening. but whoever opens the hardware specs, garners continuous and best 
support from linux community. That's history..
